What do you think, if your health records are safe with ABHA??

We are getting digitally empowered with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, but many of us are still having some misunderstandings regarding linking and managing our health records with ABHA. We have come across some cases where we have found people worrying about the privacy of their health documents.

Through the blog, we at Aarogyaone have tried to bring transparency about the security of your health records with ABHA. We have already shared information about the government’s motive behind ABHA and now we will explore the safety of your medical documents with ABHA.

Do you think everybody can access your health records?

The common misconception we have is that people think their medical documents will be accessible to everybody. This point comes to people’s minds because they think all their health-related documents are getting uploaded somewhere and can be seen by anyone.

But here we want to bring one thing to your notice. Whatever document you upload and link with ABHA, all are saved on your server. Technically it is called a “client site”. This means all your data will only be yours unless and until you allow them to be shared.

The health records will only be accessible once your consent is received. You can understand it with an example. Suppose you are going for your checkup and the doctor has asked for some old reports. Now in this case, you can share access only for the same document for a specific period after which the access will be revoked and the doctor will no longer be able to view your health record.

Health Records Are Safe with ABHA

Linking health records with ABHA is completely safe and you will only be the owner of all your medical records.

Full Control of Your Health Records

You have full control of your health records and ABHA lets you select the document that you want to share. You can even allocate the duration after which the medical record will not be accessible to the assignee. Moreover, if you are doubtful, you can revoke the access immediately.

Share What You Want To Share: With ABHA, you can health records that you want to. For example; if You are sharing ongoing treatment records with your doctor but you don’t want to share old health reports or any medical event etc; it is completely fine. You are free to select and share the medical documents of your choice.

Security is the top-most priority

ABHA takes privacy seriously. They use special technology to make sure your health information stays safe and only gets seen by the right people. It’s like having a secret code that only you and your trusted doctors know.

Final Words

The concept of ABHA is made to ease our health journey. The Government is empowering the health sector digitally with its Ayushman Bharat mission. With ABHA, your health records are secure and nobody can access them at any cost because of high-level security protocol. Also, ABHA gives you the flexibility to keep your health records private and share them with your consent only.

So guys, upload your health records at ABHA and leave all the worries. To help you, Aarogyaone is here where you can create ABHA and start managing all your health records. We have kept the registration and login process very simple and it can easily be followed. But if you have any queries, feel free to connect. We will be more than happy to help.

Do you know our Government’s Motive Behind ABHA? Or you are the one who is thinking ABHA as a smart way to track your money? Many of us are still considering ABHA as a tracker that is keeping an eye on their financial status. But the fact is, it is all wrong. ABHA is a unique health ID that has been created based on your AADHAAR. All the health records are just maintained under that ABHA ID in order to ease your accessibility for your medical records.

In order to avoid confusion and keep things transparent, the government has issued statements and presented their aim behind the concept of ABHA. As per their statement, there is no ulterior motive behind the integration/linking of health records with Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) numbers.

The Health Ministry has clearly stated their intention for ABHA and they said “ABHA isn’t some sneaky way for the government to track money. In fact, it is not linked to any monetary or fiscal scheme of the government. It is being rolled out across government health programs, such as Reproductive a and Child Health (RCH), Non- Communicable Disease (NCD), Nikshay, U-win (Universal-immunization), E-Sanjeevani (teleconsultation), PMJAY, Poshan (Anganwadi), etc,”

Do you know why there is a need for ABHA?

The Aadhaar card represents our identity and we all are assigned a unique ID. But to maintain user privacy, Aadhaar details can’t be saved on the system. Hence ABHA ID is being created under which all the medical records like lab reports, prescriptions, scans, etc will be saved. We believe each individual should have an ABHA ID in order to avail of the health facility.

ABHA is associated with your health only. It has nothing to do with financial tracking etc. We have come across so many misconceptions and of which people are getting confused. ABHA ID is your health ID that has been created based on your Aadhaar Card. Using this facility, people can access their health records anytime anywhere.

Why is there a need for linking health records with ABHA?

Many of us struggle for paper-based health records and to make things quickly accessible government is making the health sector digitally empowered. When you link your health records with ABHA, you can access it anytime anywhere.

The health ministry also said they’re making it possible for people to see their health records on their mobile phones, which will save money by not having to do tests again. They’re doing this thing called ABHA wherever health records are made. They’ll use it during events like Char Dham Yatra and Maha-Kumbh, for exams like UPSC, for driving license medical tests, and more.

How does Aarogyaone help you with ABHA?

Using our app “Aarogyaone” which is available for Android and iPhone users both, you can create your ABHA account. Furthermore, you can manage (upload, edit, & delete) all your health records here by linking them with ABHA.

We aim to smoothen your treatment journey and hence the interface is kept very simple. You can access your medical records anytime anywhere and share them with your doctor.

Final Thoughts

So, guys, no need to worry at all! Government Motive Behind ABHA is very transparent and in the favor of Indian citizens only. There is no money tracking using ABHA. Moreover, technically it is not at all possible. All these initiatives are taken just to raise the level of our healthcare infrastructure. Following the process will keep us digitally empowered because now all our health records are just a click away!

We all are very well aware, that health is wealth but still, lots of individuals lack access to basic health services. In this regard, PHC i.e. primary health care has brought revolution to the health sector as it ensures the availability of essential services to all the communities of the society majorly for people living in remote areas. Also, the Role of Primary Health Care revolves around filling the healthcare gaps.

Furthermore, PHC focuses on preventive and rehabilitative services, addressing a wide range of health needs. Its holistic approach emphasizes community participation, health education, and empowerment, making it not just a treatment option but a pathway to overall well-being.

Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY)

One significant initiative in India aimed at empowering PHC is the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), which is the largest government-funded health insurance scheme. It aims to provide financial protection to vulnerable individuals, covering hospitalization expenses up to 5 lakh per family per year.

Also, PMJAY plays a pivotal role in strengthening PHC because of its support for secondary and tertiary healthcare services along with primary care facilities. With financial coverage, PMJAY lets people get timely and appropriate healthcare services without any second thought. Moreover, the initiative does not let minor issues get converted into the biggest health problem.

In this series, Ayushman Bharat is the main pillar that is aggressively working to raise the health infrastructure of the country. In our previous blog, we mentioned all the aspects related to Ayushman Bharat, ABDM, and Health Echo System. Click the link if you are looking to know more about Ayushman Bharat or ABDM.

Health and Wellness Centers (HWCs)

Establishing Health and Wellness Centers (HWCs) as the frontline of PHC delivery is the main agenda of Ayushman Bharat.  Do you know the worth of these centers?

They serve as one-stop destinations where people can get comprehensive healthcare services. The medical services include preventive screenings, maternal and child health services, management of non-communicable diseases, and essential medicines.

As we know, Ayushman Bharat encourages digital empowerment, and technology in PHC has played a massive role in healthcare infrastructure. Following the digital portals, we get proper tracking of the beneficiaries, medical records management, medicine stock, real-time health monitoring, and many more.

Impact of PHC

With the revolution of PHC, health problems are detected at the very early stage and accordingly the treatment is performed. As a result, the burden is getting reduced on secondary & tertiary healthcare facilities. In this way, there is the scope for efficient resource allocation that further contributes to the improved healthcare infrastructure.

  • Early Detection of Health Issues
  • Quick Screening
  • Accessible to Remote Areas
  • Reduced Burden on Secondary and Tertiary Health Facilities
  • More Efficient Health Care Infrastructure

Challenges of PHC

As we have discussed above, PHC has definitely brought a positive impact to the healthcare industry but still, there are some challenges. The major problems are because of

  • Unorganized Infrastructure
  • Shortage of Professionals
  • Inaccessibility in Remote Areas

How the challenges are being addressed

There are some solutions that can eliminate these challenges such as:

  • Sustainable Investment
  • Human Resources
  • Digital Empowerment in Remote Areas

Also, as we know the Indian population is a lot, and here we should promote services like telemedicine, mobile health apps like Aarogyaone, etc. These solutions will definitely boost the power of PHC and eliminate the geographical barriers as well.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, Primary Health Care serves as a critical bridge in bridging the healthcare gap, ensuring equitable access to essential services for all individuals and communities. Initiatives like PMJAY and HWCs play a pivotal role in strengthening PHC.

These Ayushman Bharat initiatives offer financial protection, expand access to healthcare services, and leverage technology for efficient delivery. However, concerted efforts are needed to address challenges and maximize the potential of PHC in promoting health and well-being for all.

Health is the biggest asset, and we are liable to treasure it. Also, good health is the only driving force that keeps us alive and engaged in all other ongoing activities of life. Considering this fact, Aarogyaone is here with a trending topic which is Digital Universal Health Coverage. Most of us are not quite familiar with the concept and we have decided to let you know.

What is Universal Health Coverage

The concept of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) is all about providing premium quality health services to all individuals without any financial crisis. Also, as per our government’s vision the goal of a Universal Health Card by the year 2030.

The government is aggressively heading towards it under their Ayushman Bharat initiative. Using this concept, people will have quick access to all the medical products and services they need.

To accomplish the mission, a system of Primary Health Care (PHC) is there with which the UHC level will be achieved.

Components of Digital Universal Health Care

There are two inter-related components with which the Ayushman Bharat is adopting a continuum of care approach:

Health and Wellness Centres (HWCs)

As per the government’s 2018 announcement, they are in the process of building approximately 1,50,000 HWCs. It is being done by the transformation of Primary Health Centres & Subcentres.

These centers are responsible for providing Comprehensive Primary Health Care (CPHC).

As a result, now the medical facilities are available closer to your home. Various types of health problems like non-communicable diseases, pediatric treatment, maternal health services along with diagnostic services are being treated.

Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY)

PM-JAY is the second component that supports the mission of Universal Health Coverage Under this scheme, the Government is offering cashless treatment to all Indian citizens who are financially challenged. The cashless benefit is available for up to 5 lakhs per family per year who are listed under secondary and tertiary care conditions.

Available medical facilities under PM-JAY are

  • Medical examination, treatment and consultation
  • Pre-hospitalization
  • Medicine and medical consumables
  • Non-intensive and intensive care services
  • Diagnostic and laboratory investigations
  • Medical implantation services (where necessary)
  • Accommodation benefits
  • Food services
  • Complications arising during treatment
  • Post-hospitalization follow-up care up to 15 days

You can check our previous blog where we have mentioned detailed information about Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY). Click the link and get the detailed information.

Ways to Reach UHC (Universal Health Coverage)

Primary Health Care (PHC) is the most prominent way to achieve UHC under which people’s needs are identified. Afterward, the needs are prioritized and addressed effectively using the empowered health infrastructure. The health infrastructure ensures the availability of equipment, resources, medicines, etc.

Furthermore, the government is striving hard to fasten the track and reach the goal as soon as possible. In this regard, PHC has put its focus on the comprehensive approach rather than limiting it to the traditional medical treatment process.

Health System Resilience

The concept of Health System Resilience revolves around the ability of the health sector to conquer rising health threats. We can understand it very well because we have survived the era of Covid-19. The global health threat has shaken the world and even developed and advanced nations like the USA, UK, etc have no clue what to do.

Since the era of COVID-19, the government has been making collaborations across the world and building networks to strengthen the healthcare system. They are adapting the global response to COVID-19 and further transforming these calculations at various scales like international, national, and level levels, etc.

The activities include community-based surveillance, diagnostic networks, and efficient vaccine administration mechanisms. Such initiatives broaden the health sector and bring stability to society where they can face any epidemic problem confidently.

Health System Digitalization

We all are quite aware of how digitalization has improved our lifestyle and given us easier options to explore anything and everything by being in one place. Similarly, it plays an important role in empowering the healthcare sector.

Adapting Data-driven infrastructure is phenomenal where people, policymakers, service providers, etc. can have real-time data. Also, you will get surprised to know, in Zambia death rate due to malaria has been reduced significantly.

Utilizing the power of digital resources, now we can have all the information like the availability of staff & medicine, and the procurement process.

Digital Universal Health Coverage: People-Centric Approach

Under this concept, depending on people’s need, the design of healthcare products and services will take place. Moreover, UHC is gaining attention because it is a people-centric approach where the needs are diagnosed from the ground level. Accordingly, they are generating solutions.

Final Thoughts

Universal Health Coverage is the people-centric approach where the government strives hard to fulfill all medical demands without any financial dependency. PM-JAY and HWCs are the main components with which we can achieve the level of UHC.

Telemedicine has revolutionized the healthcare industry by adapting the digital technology. Now, the world can expect delivery of medical services at their doorstep. In this blog, we will discuss the role of telemedicine in modern healthcare along with its advantages and limitations.

What is Telemedicine?

As the name suggests, the concept is all about attending patients remotely. The diagnosis or treatment is performed using telecommunication like video calls, audio calls, chatting, etc. With the evolution of Telemedicine, a patient is not required to visit any doctor personally unless or until they are in an emergency.

Furthermore, a comprehensive range of medical services is being offered including teleconsultations, chronic conditions monitoring, online therapy, prescriptions, etc.  Also, patients find it convenient because now they are not required to be in a queue or face crowds of hospitals, etc.

Categories Of Telemedicine Technology

  1. Tele-Consultation

In this mode, the communication is between the patients/users and the medical experts through video conferences, audio calls, messages, etc. During teleconsultation, the doctors or healthcare service providers try to diagnose the health issues by analyzing the symptoms and lab reports (if any). They share their prescription and suggest some tests if needed by the patients.

Benefits from Tele-Consultation:

  • People who are unable to move or have limited access to walking can leverage the advantage of teleconsultation.
  • Also, here, a person can get access from any part of the globe having a stable internet connection.
  1. Tele-Health

Telehealth is related to self-care with the help of recommended electronic devices. The device keeps recording the data related to your health and later can be transferred to a central monitoring system for further analysis.

Benefits from Tele-Health:

  • Devices at home like Digital Thermometers, Weighing Scales, BP Tracker, and Pulse Reader come into this category, and their data gets transferred to a central monitoring system at regular intervals.
  • These devices generate alarms if any data exceeds its limit & keep the patient alert.
  1. Tele-Care

Systems and sensors that we use at home mainly for senior people, come under the category of tele-care. Devices like sensors, remotes, etc make their life easier especially for people having a mental disability.

Benefits from Tele-Care:

  • Tele-care devices are like sensors through which gas leaks, fires, etc can be identified.

Government Initiative: eSanjeevani

esanjeevani-TelemedicineTo make people aware and encourage Telemedicine, the government has started a program called eSanjeevani.

It is India’s National Telemedicine Service, ensuring digital health equity in the pursuit of Universal Health Coverage (UHC). Furthermore, eSanjeevani offers convenient access to healthcare professionals and specialists through smartphones, enabling swift and seamless consultations.

Moreover, individuals can remotely access high-quality healthcare services via eSanjeevani by connecting to the nearest Ayushman Bharat Health & Wellness Centre.

How to avail eSanjeevani facility?

  1. Registration & Login
  2. Book For Consultation
  3. Enter eOPD
  4. Virtually Connect with The Doctor
  5. Get Your ePrescription

Benefits of Telemedicine

Dedicated Management of Chronic Disease: With the telemedicine feature, the management of chronic diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases can be effectively managed.

Quick Care for Physically/Mentally Challenged People: With facilities like video conferencing, audio calling, etc, people who are physically or mentally challenged get rid of facing hospital hassles. Merely by being at home, they get their ePrescriptions and tests done.

Patient Empowerment: Telemedicine empowers patients by offering them quick access to their health problems. Moreover, it saves time and additional expenses as well.

Telemedicine for Care Providers: Seamless communication enhances patient outcomes by enabling comprehensive treatment plans. Additionally, it supports the analysis of disease trends and migration patterns, contributing to proactive healthcare strategies. This integration of data empowers practitioners to deliver more informed and personalized care.

Fills the Shortage of Healthcare Workforce: Technology-driven solution fills the gap or shortage of manpower because the majority of things got eliminated. For example: The remote assistance of patients from rural areas can be done without the support of extra medical staff.

Final Words

Telemedicine plays a very important role in the modern healthcare system because it has empowered the domain and made it accessible to each point of the globe. Even by being in a rural area that is not so developed, patients/people can get quick medical attention online.

We at Aarogyaone hope the concept of telemedicine and its contribution to the healthcare sector is understood by you. Even if there is any query, feel free to connect. Also, keep browsing the page because we are here to strengthen your well-being.

Most of us are already aware that Depression Risk Is Higher for People Doing High-Pressure Jobs. Becoming pressurized in the current professional lifestyle is not new and it is bringing so many health issues in which depression is one. We are living in a world where competition is at its peak. Moreover, competition is not only about money, as it also includes your efficiency and responsibility towards your work. Every day we all fight very hard to achieve our goals.

Considering these facts, the environment of the workplace has become pressurized, and rather than enjoying their work people are just running behind their targets. Even if they have achieved their assigned target for the current month, they start worrying about the upcoming month. These things have become normal in the current professional lifestyle.

Impact of Targets on Mental Health

To understand the fact, we can take the reference of the “Sales & Marketing division”. The upper management puts high pressure on the employee to meet their target. They also give attractive benefits in terms of extra money or any facility which we call “Incentives”.

To get that, the employee puts all their efforts into meeting the target. The bitter truth is, that despite having lots of sleepless nights, 90% of the people didn’t reach the target. Do you know why? It is not because of inefficiency; it is because of hypothetical targets that can’t be achieved by any normal human being. If we have the superpowers only then we can achieve the target.

Everybody knows the target is unreal, but inefficiency will come into the picture when the employee is getting evaluated. This thing hits your mind because you have given all your efforts but couldn’t achieve the target. It shakes your confidence and you feel depressed because such incidents happen in the loop. You lose your family life, inner happiness, self-motivation, and many more such things.

Impact of Working Hours on Mental Health

As per the studies, one should ideally work 40-45 hours a week (5 days a week) but some people are working approximately 90 hours a week (7 days a week). Working 90 hours or more can raise the level of depression and it is said by the doctors. People are facing so many health problems with this mode of working.

Also, people working for 90 hours a week lose their patience level, thinking ability, and inner happiness. They become like a machine that has no emotions at all. Also, if you are doing this for the sake of money, that money will not be of use because ultimately you are going to utilize it for your treatment. Hence, it’s better to have some free space for yourself and your loved ones.

The matter is not limited to the Sales and Marketing Department or “Working Hours”, it roams across all the units of the industry. No matter in whichever domain you are working, you will feel pressured because of anything like higher management, no salary hike, family issues, too much competition, comparison with others, unreal expectations, and many more.

What Should We Do to Avoid Depression in Professional Life

As we have seen how depression risk is higher for people doing high-pressure jobs now, we will discuss for the solutions. The very first thing is to make up your mind that we are human beings, not robots. Below mentioned are a few things that one can do to balance their work life and it ultimately benefits your mind.

Work Smartly: Nowadays technology has driven so many advanced tools like AI (Artificial Intelligence). Start using them to ease your job and bring quality to your work.

Furthermore, always plan your work and divide your target into small goals. When you start working uniformly, you will find that there will not be any stress. Stress always comes when you are mismanaged or do not work as per the plan.

Like, many people think, that if I do not achieve or complete my work this week, I will in next week. In this way, work gets compiled and you will get stressed. Don’t let that thing occur. Then you will find more peace in your professional journey. Hence, we always suggest working uniformly without delaying your targets.

Be Transparent: You should discuss everything transparently either with your boss or family member. If there is something that is putting you under pressure, discuss it. After discussion, you will get a solution for sure.

Keep Upgrading Yourself: Whenever you have some time, try to learn new things and keep yourself updated. It makes you more confident and energized.

Spend Time with Family & Friends: Always spend time with your family and friends. They keep you distracted from your professional life and your mind gets some time to relax.

Do Regular Exercise: To keep your mind healthy, you must do some physical activities at least for 45 minutes a day. It can be in any form like walking, jogging, yoga, swimming, strength training, running, etc. You can also do meditation in order to strengthen your mind. When your mind is strong, there will not be any place for depression.

Conclusion

We hope, now you got the idea about depression risk is higher for people doing high-pressure jobs. Depression comes when our mental state is not good. Pressure is the only thing that shakes our minds and ultimately makes us depressed. We hope, from now onwards, you will balance your work life and make yourself a happier person than before.

Also, in our previous blog we have written about depression because of obesity. you can read that as well to understand the concept.

Aarogyaone always wishes for a happy and healthy society and for that, we are spreading awareness through our blogs. Keep reading the blog section as there is always something new for you!

It is quite surprising that depression risk is higher for people living with obesity. The current era is too competitive and people are just focusing on their goals forgetting their physical and mental health. This lifestyle is giving birth to two major problems the former is obesity and the latter is depression.

Moreover, you will be surprised to know many of us don’t consider these problems as health issues and we take it very lightly. In the end, when things become worse, people start taking medications, etc.

We are presenting this blog to understand how the current lifestyle is affecting our overall well-being. Before going into detail, let’s explore Depression and Obesity individually.

Basically, Depression shows our mental health disturbance in which the victim always feels bad, remains sad, and loses interest in any social gathering. They like to live alone and roam around with negative thoughts only. In some cases, we all have seen the end results as suicide.

Obesity is a concern, in this issue, the person gains too much weight either because of overeating or an inactive lifestyle. Because of Obesity, we have so many other health problems, and depression is one of them.

Depression Risk Is Higher for People Living with Obesity

As per the research and analysis, obese people experience the problem of depression as compared to normal ones. You might be surprised but yes, it’s true. Let’s have a quick look at the factors that impact your mental health if you have the problem of obesity.

Biological Problem: When the body gains weight unexpectedly, our hormonal level gets imbalanced as a result of which the chemistry of the brain gets disturbed. As we know, there are some chemicals in the brain called serotonin & dopamine that are responsible for managing our mood and when they get disturbed, depression occurs.

Public Discrimination: We are living in a world where personality matters a lot. If you are fat you will be noticed and become the talk of the town. Nobody can deny, that obese people face discrimination in their all social appearances. This kind of stigma demotivates you and keeps you alone from all the gatherings. Such type of repetitive activities disturb our minds as a result of which people get depressed.

Lifestyle factors: In the present time, we all are victimized by unhealthy lifestyles that include junk food, wrong eating times, inactive routines, and many more. As a result, people gain weight along with a negative impact on mental health. You can understand it with an example. If you eat junk for example any sugary thing, you are disturbing your mood and the functions of your brain. Eating the correct food at the right time is the need of time.

Chronic Health Issues: If don’t maintain our weight, we get lots of serious problems like heart issues, sleeping problems, diabetes, etc. Because of such problems, stress levels increase and you can imagine how badly these health issues affect our brains as a result of which depression occurs.

How to get rid of Obesity & Depression?

These are the problems related to obesity and depression. Now, you must be thinking, about what to be done to get rid of it. We are sharing some strategies through which you can minimize your stress level and maintain your weight.

Do Exercise: The very first thing, adopt a healthy lifestyle in which you should start doing exercise depending on your age and body allowance. Don’t start with heavy exercise otherwise the consequences can be worse.

Just keep one thing in mind; you haven’t gained weight in one day so no need to reduce it in one day. Do simple exercises to keep your body active. It can be one hour of walking and 10 minutes of running, yoga, swimming, or anything. If needed, take a professional’s help so that they can guide you in the best possible way.

Eat Health At the Right Time: Avoid eating junk and if possible, only eat homemade food. Moreover, always take your breakfast, lunch, and dinner on time. So many people skip their breakfast in a hurry and here they are making blunders. Breakfast is the most important meal of our day. Hence, what may come, keep following healthy eating habits. Include vegetables, fruits, lean proteins, and whole grains in your diet.

Do Meditation: Self-care is the most important thing that helps you to come out of the situation. Moreover, it keeps you positive and fresh. If possible, meet good friends and family members and have fun with them.

In this blog, you will get to know What is ABDM (Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission) & Its Components. The government is aggressively emphasizing digital empowerment where they are encouraging people to use digital resources to get health benefits. In this series, they have taken the initiative and formed ABDM which is Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. Many programs are run under this mission with the ultimate aim of improving healthcare facilities.

We have seen many individuals and families who have no knowledge about these programs as a result of which they lose the benefits. Hence to make people aware we have started a series of blogs where we will keep educating you regarding ABDM, Government Initiatives, Health Benefits, and many more such relevant topics.

What is ABDM (Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission) & Its Components

What is ABDM?

So many of us don’t know What is ABDM (Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission) & Its Components. Let’s begin with the introduction of ABDM. The government has launched the program Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission to empower the healthcare system digitally and build a digital health ecosystem across India. The aim behind the launch of ABDM is to facilitate common health data standards and register healthcare professionals & facilities.

As a result of ABDM, all the participating digital health systems can share health records with healthcare professionals seamlessly. Hence, we say, ABDM acts as a bridge and connects various stakeholders in the healthcare domain.

Components of ABDM

  • ABHA Number
  • ABHA Mobile App(PHR)
  • Healthcare Professionals Registry (HPR)
  • Health Facility Registry (HFR)

Vision behind Ecosystem

So many of us are still thinking, about what is the need for a healthy ecosystem or why the is Government emphasizing a healthy ecosystem.

We are quite aware of our population which is around 140 crores and managing such a massive audience for their health is obviously challenging. Moreover, we have more than 50 lakh professionals with approximately 12 lakh healthcare facilities.

Most of them are already involved with some other digital health system and migrating all of them on any single platform is nearly impossible. Also, all of them have different kinds of requirements. Hence to their communication easy, quick, and secure, the health ecosystem is made where they can interact effortlessly.

Key Responsibilities of NHA under ABDM

NHA (National Health Authority) is associated with the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) which is primarily responsible for the implementation of ABDM. Their objective is to develop an interoperable and secure digital platform where healthcare professionals can interact seamlessly. In order to implement the same, they need to develop building blocks or internal modules so that external digital health systems can integrate with them.

Hence NHA has to act as a bridge so that all the healthcare facilities and healthcare professionals could be part of this healthcare ecosystem.

ABDM & AB PM-JAY

Again, people are very confused about the relation of these two terms ABDM & AB PM-JAY (Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana). Read the section carefully and take advantage if it is needed.

The government is offering health insurance of up to INR 5 Lakh per family through AB PM-JAY (Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana). Same as ABDM, NHA is responsible for the implementation of AB PM-JAY.

Furthermore, in order to make efficient and transparent communication, AB PM-JAY is using the ABDM platform. In simple words we can, AB PM-JAY is an integration with ABDM same as any other digital health system. Programs that are integrated like AB PM-JAY are NIKSHAY (antiTB programme), CoWIN (COVID vaccination portal), hospitals, etc.

Final Words

We hope the concept of ABDM and its components is clear now. Also now you have the idea about the benefits you can get through ABDM. In our coming blog, we will discuss some other building blocks of the healthcare ecosystem. Hence stay tuned and keep browsing the page.
